Scientific aspect of Jainism - modern science is catching up | JCSF Website Walkthru
Date: 03/29/2026
Speaker: Sandeep Jain
Subject: Scientific aspect of Jainism - modern science is catching up | JCSF Website Walkthru
Jainism is often described as a "scientific religion" because its ancient scriptures contain detailed observations about the physical world that parallel modern scientific discoveries. Jainism is built on a rational pursuit of knowledge and a non-theistic, law-governed universe.
As a religion, Jainism is primarily an ethical–spiritual tradition, not a scientific movement. However, individual Jain scholars and communities made major contributions to mathematics, logic, astronomy, linguistics, and medicine, especially in medieval India.
In this session, we will explore the scientific aspect of Jainism that even most devoted followers may not be aware of.
